Failover Routing With One Failover Step

Failover Routing With One Failover Step

Failover routing with one failover step allows users to set up an automatic failover endpoint which will be attempted in addition to the basic routing endpoint. If a call cannot be connected to the primary (basic) routing endpoint due to a failure reason1 the platform will automatically attempt to connect the call to the fist failover endpoint. The failover is handled on a call-by-call basis, meaning that for every call an attempt will always be made to connect to the primary routing endpoint and only if it fails, the failover point will be attempted.

This type of setup can effectively be used for overflow routing by having the Star Telecom platform automatically failover calls to the secondary endpoint if the first endpoint (contact center or queue) becomes busy. In case of unexpectedly high call volumes, rather than ringing busy, callers can be redirected to a secondary site when the queue(s) at the primary site fill up.

1 - Failure reasons include Busy, No Answer and any of the SIP temporary or permanent failure reasons
